UK Student VISAs (general) - Tier 4
This category is for students over the age of 16 wanting to study in the UK. This is a points based system.
If you are not a settled resident of the UK or a National of the European Union it will be necessary for your to obtain permission to study in the UK under the Tier 4 section if your course is longer than 6 months.
You will need to demonstrate the following in order to satisfy the requirements under this tier. All the requirements are given points:
- You must have a valid confirmation of acceptance from a tier 4 Sponsor
- You will need to have enough money to cover the course fees and living costs
A total of 40 points will be attributed for satisfying the above requirements.
Your dependants
From the 4th July 2011 you cannot bring your dependants to the UK unless you are sponsored by a higher education institution on a course at NQF level 7 or above which lasts 12 months or more.
